The San Diego Business Journal honored Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s General Counsel Karin K. Sherr at a June ceremony in San Diego. At the General Counsel Awards, Sherr was awarded the top honors in the category of Rising Star.
The General Counsel Awards recognize excellence in the In-House counsel community. They showcase legal heroes in the community who exemplify traits that all In-House Counsel strive to attain and hone: measured and trusted judgment, legal and business acumen, vision, and leadership.
As General Counsel of Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Sherr spearheaded a $127 million debt restructuring. Her diligence through the process played a major role in securing the future of a decades-old institution. She is not only dedicated to maintaining the highest professional standards, she has devoted herself to shaping attorneys of the 21st century. As a mentor in the San Diego County Bar Association, Sherr takes young lawyers through a rigorous curriculum to enhance their professional careers.
“Karin embodies the spirit of Thomas Jefferson School of Law,” said Thomas Guernsey, President and Dean of Thomas Jefferson School of Law. “Her diligence through our restructuring contributed to the emergence of a truly remarkable educational institution. She championed the interests of our students, faculty, staff and alumni.”
Sherr joined Thomas Jefferson School of Law as its General Counsel in 2013. Prior to coming to Thomas Jefferson Law, Sherr worked in private practice representing employers in all aspects of labor and employment law.
