San Diego City Council Recognizes Lance Growth ’13

December 17, 2013

One of TJSL’s recent graduates Lance Growth ’13 was the talk of San Diego City Hall on Monday, December 16 at the City Council public meeting. Interim Mayor Todd Gloria and City Councilmembers enthusiastically recognized and congratulated Growth for graduating from Thomas Jefferson School of Law on Saturday.

“This is one of the most amazing feelings in my life,” said Growth. “To be honest, it is more about my mother than anything. She’s worked 2 to 3 jobs since I was seven years old. She always said it wasn’t about the paycheck but the ability to provide her children with opportunity. I feel like I have not only cashed in on the opportunity, but I have also repaid her hard work.”

Growth who attended the event with his mother is acknowledged on the City of San Diego Public Access CityTV at 6 minutes 30 seconds where San Diego City Councilwoman Myrtle Cole can be heard praising her Intern. “The reason this is so important is because you hear about other things happening in my District, like gang shootings, but you don’t hear about young men graduating from the school of law like this young man,” said Councilwoman Cole.

Growth spent his last year at TJSL serving as a Management Intern for San Diego City Councilwoman Myrtle Cole. In November, he invited Interim Mayor Todd Gloria, City Councilmembers Myrtle Cole and Scott Sherman to TJSL for an informative panel tailored on giving insight to students interested in pursuing careers in the political sector.
