March 1, 2012
By Patrick Meyer
Several members and alumni of Thomas Jefferson School of Law attended the grand reopening of the newly remodeled downtown San Diego County Public Law Library main branch on Saturday February 25th.
Representing TJSL were Professor William Slomanson, Acting Library Director Patrick Meyer, TJSL alumni and soon-to-be County Law Library board member Lorena Slomanson, alumni and Technical Services & Acquisitions Librarian Leigh Inman (who also was an event volunteer) and Circulation/Reserve Librarian Torin Andrews (who also was an event volunteer). The event, a black tie Mardi Gras style affair, included casino gaming tables, live music and entertainment, caricature artists, tarot card readings, and lite fare by Toast Catering. Several attendees donned colorful Mardi Gras masks for the occasion.
All proceeds from the evening’s events up to $250,000 will be doubled by the Hervey Family challenge grant and benefits the ongoing library renovation fund. The newly remodeled San Diego Law Library main branch is located at 1105 Front Street, and houses a very large legal collection. For more information on the library, call 619-531-3900.
