TJSL National Trial Team will Send Eight Students to Two Mock Trial Competitions
March 19, 2014
The Trial Team members will travel to Sacramento for the McGeorge School of Law Ethics Competition and Seattle for the American Association of Justice’s regional competition. The McGeorge School of Law Ethics Competition team consists of Javier Vargus, Ashley Salas, James White, and Chanel Diblasi. This fact pattern for this competition focuses on attorney malpractice. It will take place March 20-22, 2014. The team heading to Seattle consists of Milena Celentano, Drew Meyers, James Kiernan, and Mike Klitzke. Their fact pattern involves a medical malpractice suit.
These competitions come after the school sent two teams to Los Angeles last month for the regional round of the TYLA National Trial Competition where both TJSL teams placed in the top ten. “TYLA was great for our team and for our mock trial program,” said Team Captain, Jay B Campbell (3L). “Both of our teams worked hard for our school. Even though we didn’t go all the way like we did last year, TJSL is now a force to be reckoned with in the Mock Trial arena, and I’m excited to see where the program can and will go from here. After six competitions, it is surreal to know that this was my last time representing TJSL as a trial team member and I’m happy to see how much the program has grown and improved during my time on the team. I am going to miss it.”
One more team is slated for competition the following week, March 26-30, 2014, at the South Texas Mock Trial Challenge.
The TJSL National Trial Team is under the skilled tutelage of Professors Lilys McCoy and Lea Fields-Bernard.
