Moot Court Honor Society Competes in Oklahoma City

Our Moot Court Honor Society traveled to Oklahoma City this past weekend to compete in the ABA NAAC Moot Court Competition. The teams argued two issues from the famous case Brady v. Maryland. The first issue was whether Brady protections are applicable to pre-trial stages. The second issue was whether Brady requires due diligence.

The oralist pairs were: Jayson Swigart (2L) and Cristian Palafox (3L), and Natalie Karamian (2L) and Thea Jaucian (3L). Along with the oralists, the teams had a team writer/bailiff. Serving as writer/bailiff were Gonzalo Quezada (3L) and Kristina Aghazaryan (2L). Both teams did an amazing job presenting their arguments! One of the teams beat Colorado in their oral presentation and the other team averaged a high 92 out of 100 possible points. Both teams received high praise for their level of knowledge and professionalism from actual appellate lawyers who served as judges. While the teams did not advance to the final round, TJSL was well represented at this competition.
