Graduates Kim Carter and Melissa Lewis Publish Articles in ABA Publication
October 17, 2019
Two of our graduates have recent publications to their credit. Congratulations to both! Kim Carter wrote an article published in the current edition of the American Bar Association’s GPSolo Employment Law and Human Resource issue about how historically, Blacks who wear their natural hair in the workplace have been subjected to discrimination, and why California’s recently passed Crown Act is needed to protect their rights. As Kim notes, “Black women have seriously been affected, even in their health, by this ongoing attack on our culture.” Kim is Counsel at Klinedinst PC.

Melissa Lewis wrote an article in the same publication. She wrote on another hot topic: independent contractors and the sharing economy. In her article, she explores the legal significance for workers and employers of how the former are classified.
