Dean Hasl Named to AALS Committee
August 1, 2011
Dean Rudy Hasl has been appointed to serve a three year term on the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) Committee on the Recruitment and Retention of Minority Faculty and Students.
“I am very honored to have been asked to become a member of the AALS Committee on the Recruitment and Retention of Minority Teachers and Students,” said Dean Hasl. “This appointment represents the second faculty committee appointment from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Professor Luz Herrera was appointed this past year to a standing committee. I have had a priority throughout my career in legal education to find ways to increase the number of faculty and students of color in the legal profession, the judiciary, and the academy. This appointment allows me to participate in a national dialogue on these issues.”
Dean Hasl has made diversity among students, faculty and staff one of his top priorities at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and TJSL was named the 33rd most diverse law school in the nation by U.S. News in 2011. He has also served on the board of the Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO), an organization which helps to create diversity in law schools and the legal profession.
Congratulations to Dean Hasl on his AALS appointment!
