Students will learn about financial compliance for financial institutions, and also risk management. With the increasing government regulation in the field, this is a growing area of employment and a ripe time to gain knowledge in the arena.
Taxation (Exclusively Online):
MSL and LLM
Students will learn about the taxation of individuals and businesses from leaders in the field, including IRS agents/CPAs/Tax Attorneys. Topics range from: individual taxation, business taxation, estate planning, and international taxation.
Financial Services and Wealth Management (Exclusively Online):
MSL and LLM
Students will learn about wealth management from some of the finest leaders in the industry. Thomas Jefferson School of Law partners with the Global Academy of Financial Management to offer additional certifications for taking our courses. Examples include: Certified Asset Manager, Chartered Wealth Manager, and Chartered Portfolio Manager.
American Legal Studies (Exclusively Residential):
This LLM degree is offered exclusively for foreign students who have an LLB or equivalent. The program is designed for students to complete within a year in beautiful San Diego. It provides bar eligibility in some jurisdictions (e.g. California, New York, Texas, Georgia, Washington DC).
Practice Skills (Exclusively Residential):
The LL.M. in Practice Skills (residential in San Diego) helps J.D. graduates meet increased demand for skills as an essential component of practicing law. Program participants will have the opportunity to develop and hone their skills in critical areas such as client interaction, document drafting, negotiating, litigating, and running a law firm, with a focus on any of the following core areas:
- Transactional Law
- Civil Litigation
- Criminal Practice
