Professors and Alumni Named as Top Attorneys by The Daily Transcript

Thirteen Thomas Jefferson professors and alumni were honored as finalists for San Diego’s Top Attorneys in The San Diego Daily Transcript’s July publication.

In the Academics category of the ten finalists, two are Thomas Jefferson School of Law professors.

This is not the first time that Professors Julie Greenberg and Lilys McCoy have been honored as finalists. Professor Greenberg has been voted a finalist in eight of the last ten years and this is Professor McCoy’s third year being recognized in the Academic category and her 5th year being recognized as a Top Attorney by the San Diego Daily Transcript since the inception of the award in 2006.

“My 25 years at Thomas Jefferson School of Law have been exceptionally rewarding,” said Professor Greenberg. I am so privileged to have worked with wonderful students, supportive staff, and intellectually stimulating and collaborative faculty. I cannot imagine another career that could have brought me such pleasure.”

“I’m honored to be included with fellow Thomas Jefferson School of Law faculty whom I greatly admire,” said Professor McCoy, an adjunct professor who heads Thomas Jefferson’s Center for Solo Practitioners. “The entire Thomas Jefferson School of Law community–students, staff, faculty and alumni–are a remarkable group. Their passion for the law and for equal access to justice through Thomas Jefferson’s dynamic programs inspires me to do better every day I am there.“

Each year, The Daily Transcript invites attorneys across San Diego County to submit nominations and, thereby, pay tribute to those they consider the best practitioners of law. The journal allows attorneys to nominate their peers within fifteen general practice areas that span both the private and public sectors. After obtaining the initial nominations, the journal produces a list of semi-finalists comprised of the twenty-five attorneys that received the most nominations in each practice area. According to the paper, the semi-finalists are then voted on by their peers and the attorneys with the most votes in each practice area become finalists.
