August 3, 2015
Former Alumni Association President, Renee Galente ’08, current Alumni Association Secretary and past President, Philip Shapiro ’85, and current Alumni Association President, Jeremy Evans ’11 were appointed to the Solo & Small Firm Executive Committee for the State Bar of California on July 29, 2015. Galente and Shapiro have served on the Committee for the State Bar since 2014, while Evans will serve his first term, beginning August 2015.
The Solo and Small Firm Section provides a forum for solo and small firm practitioners, both specialists, and those in general practice. The Section presents educational programs, publishes a quarterly newsletter on technology and practice management, and provides a Mentor Directory listing attorneys statewide who offer to section members free consultations in their listed areas of expertise. Lastly, from year to year, the Section compiles and will publish “hot topics” of special concern to solo and small firm practitioners in the management of their practices.
In general, Sections offer California State Bar Members a greater voice in the programs of the State Bar and up-to-date information on developments in particular fields of law.
As Executive Committee members for the Solo & Small Firm Section, Galente, Shapiro, and Evans will help plan events and serve the Section Membership. The New Section Member and New Section Officer Orientation will occur on Friday, August 14, 2015, in San Francisco, California.
The annual Solo and Small Firm Executive Committee and General Meetings will be held in Anaheim, on October 9, 2015. Check back to the California State Bar Section website for updates on this event and more.
