The Student Org office was overflowing on Wednesday, August 29, with organization members and students interested in learning more about individual student orgs at Thomas Jefferson School of Law.

“I honestly did not show up with the intention to join any organizations,” said Thomas Gennaro 1L. “I needed a study break and thought I would just grab a sandwich and check it out…Free food, why not?”

But to Gennaro’s surprise, he says he ended up joining an organization anyway.

“Because of my strong interest in Property Law and economics, I joined the Intellectual Property Law Association. I also joined because Eugene Sismon started the group and he is an intelligent guy to work with.”

Amy Louttit 2L is the Law Students for Reproductive Justice Event Chair and was excited about the turnout: “The Student Organization Fair was a huge success!  We recruited a great number of students and heard from many new recruits that they were happy they stopped by our booth, not just to enjoy our Co-President’s delicious chocolate-peanut butter coated pretzels, but to learn more about what we actually do.”

Kelly Hayes 3L is President of Public Interest Law Foundation and also was thrilled by the org fair outcome. “PILF was able to recruit more than 50 new members who are very interested in becoming more involved in the public interest legal field,” she said. “We know this year is going to be a great success for PILF and TJSL!”

OUTlaw Co-President Sara Denton 2L said “It’s always great when you see familiar faces taking time out of their busy schedules to represent and recruit for causes that are important to them. We will all be fellow colleagues one day, and by educating each other about the diversity within our school as well as the important legal issues we are facing, we provide networking opportunities and friendships for the future. We may even learn something new that we didn’t even know we were interested in, and that’s always fun and exciting.”
