Make room in the Dean’s office for another award! The San Diego Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers recognized Thomas Jefferson School of Law on Saturday May 14, at the ASCE 22nd Annual Awards Dinner at the San Diego Marriott La Jolla.  TJSL received one of the more prestigious awards of the night in the category of Outstanding Project Award for Buildings and Structures.

Dean Rudy Hasl shared the stage with representatives of Nasland Engineering and Hope Engineering, the contractors responsible for the structural engineering of TJSL’s new East Village campus.  Dean Hasl, Francesca Bunje, S.E., Project Manager for Hope Engineering, and Larry Thornburgh, P.E.,  Senior Project Manager with Nasland Engineering, each received an engraved plaque acknowledging the Outstanding Project Award.

The dinner program recognized TJSL’s 8-story, 305,000 square foot educational project with these words:  “The overall teamwork and design excellence exhibited by the entire design and construction team throughout the project, including site excavation, shoring, structural construction and architecture construction was critical to the completion of this significant LEED (gold) project.”

In early March, TJSL received a “Sustainable  Communities Champions Award” and more than $111,000 in energy-efficiency incentive awards from San Diego Gas & Electric for the school’s participation in the utility’s Sustainable Communities and Savings by Design Programs.
